Redhawk Interview – ABC’s Construction Executive Magazine

Steve-@-Table

Steve Klimek, Redhawk Group Principal, was recently interviewed for an article in the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC), Construction Executive magazine. In the article Klimek discusses the changes in the urban market and the construction of mixed-use buildings, post-recession. “Most of these projects don’t have the typical layout of apartments on top and shops on the bottom; instead, live-work units are becoming the norm on the lower level” (Construction Executive, October 2013, Redefining Retail, Joanna Masterson). Klimek talks about the how live-work functionality is more desirable for developers so they can fill their buildings from top to bottom with tenants.

He also discussed the changes in the retail market and how online shopping has shifted the construction of the ‘big box retailers’. “Going forward, stores such as Walmart, Staples and Best Buy are likely to scale back the square footage allotted for inventory while facilitating online ordering and delivering directory to customers from a warehouse” (Construction Executive, October 2013, Redefining Retail, Joanna Masterson).
